look at the Database section by clicking on the top menu. The database includes: more than 900 operational satellites,  approximately 150 launchers,  all spaceport from where the satellites were launched,  nearly 400 key stakeholders in the sector.

How many GPS satellites?

May 14th, 2010

too many sats cats

Currently the scenario is as follows.

USA: 31 NAVSAT GPS satellites are operational  – to be modernized;

Russia: 21 GLONASS satellites are operational (+ 2 spares) – to be increased;

Europe: 27 GALILEO satellites are foreseen (+3 spares);

China: 35 COMPASS satellites are to be built;

7 satellites are from The Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS);

3 more from Japan (Quasi-Zenith Satellite System) .

Let alone the augmentation systems (WAAS, CDGPS, EGNOS and MSAS), besides commercial space-based systems, like OmniSTAR and StarFire. But that’s another story.

Did I miss anyone? Anyway the cats are 136.

Let’s hope in a better international coordination for missions to Mars.
