look at the Database section by clicking on the top menu. The database includes: more than 900 operational satellites,  approximately 150 launchers,  all spaceport from where the satellites were launched,  nearly 400 key stakeholders in the sector.

Satellites manufacturers

April 6th, 2010

What Countries are manufacturers of orbiting satellites? In this post I include a graph for the 5 years period 2004-2008. The graph reports the number of successfully launched satellites per year by the six major Countries (identified by main contractors). The data are from the Aerospace database in this web site.

US is undoubtedly the satellite builders’ leader. By far the most satellites today in space  (>55%) have been built by US manufacturers. You can see that on the graph  here. But for 2008 launches European main contractors got the primacy. Consider Europe as a single political entity is perhaps optimistic and not completely correct, but European aerospace manufacturers system is highly integrated, following a substantial merging process  in the last years.

Russia and China are neck and neck, as well as India and Japan.
